We left Vancouver on June
15th on a sunny day. For us it was a momentous affair although it
did not seem so at the time. We spent our first night at
Lasquetti Island then onto the Copeland Islands in the Sunshine Coast.

We arrived at Desolation
Sound on June 18th and the sun was still shinning - great! We
anchored at Laurie Cove and Walsh Cove before heading up to Stuart
Island and onto Calm Channel and Dent Rapids. Our next stop was Potts
Lagoon in Clio Channel, a very pretty anchorage.
By this time
we hadn't seen our sails up we had motored for almost a week!!! We
had encountered flat calm seas or, 20 - 25 knot winds on the nose for
most of the way out of Desolation Sound, no happy medium. There were
quite a few long days of motoring into head winds in the tight channels.
Motoring can be quite boring but the compensation is the wonderful
scenery.
Stopping
in Port McNeil on June 24th was quite a busy time for us, re-provisioning, and buying
Peter's fishing tackle and gear. (which he should have got in
Vancouver). We also were able to shower, complete our laundry and
catch up on a few phone calls before we went out of cell phone
range.
