Interior Description
Interior design of Cheoy Lee Offshore 41
The cabin of Matarua is warm, roomy and extremely functional. She was designed with very little left out. The boat is set up for a couple who wish to live aboard or fulfill a dream of sailing off into the blue yonder. She is ready to go again.
The interior is finished with varnished teak with teak and holly sole, even the utility wood, such as shelving, trim and bulkheads are teak.
Exterior Description
From the outside Matarua's classical graceful lines gives her the looks of a strong and fast passage maker, which she is. She is stiff and stable at 14 tons net with a good balast ratio. Cutter rigged, with a large modified fin keel and balanced skeg hung rudder. All gear is easy to work single handed.Top sides were awlgripped in 2002 and are still in good condition. The below waterline barrier coat was redone in 2007 with a 5 coat epoxy system and is in excellent condition. The decks are cored with solid teak planks between two heavy fibreglass laminates. No rot or delamination was found when the teak weaving surface was removed and replaced with epoxy and non skid in 2002. Since this was done we have had no leaks or drips.Standard canvas dodger was replaced with a hard dodger in 2007 (a great improvement) and the main sheet car and traveller system removed from the cockpit and replaced with a double 8 to 1 system from the deck - another great improvement. The cockpit is large and functional with a drop-down table. The zip on side curtains are great when it's raining. We often sail with the aft set in place in rainy conditions .Full cockpit seat cushions, sunbrella covered, together with the weather cloths and full Binimi make it a great private living room for the tropics. There are dedicated tie downs for the dinghy on the fore deck.
Summary
As you can tell by this extensive list Matarua has been continually maintained and upgraded throughout her travels and is always ocean ready. She has been loved for the last ten years since we have owned her and she has looked after us well in return.
The hull is in excellent condition with a complete new epoxy barrier coat in 2007. No blisters. New shaft seal and cutlas bearings 2010 with new steering pedestal bushings, 2010
Matarua has taken us around the world. We completed a seven year circumnavigation arriving back in Mexico last year. It is now time to re-connect with our family (new grand kids) once more.
As Matarua is ready to go we are hoping somebody will take advantage of her
already being down in Mexico. She just needs provisioning before heading of to
the South Pacific. If this is not to be then we will sail her back to Canada via
Hawaii and Alaska in 2011 and be able to enjoy her 'back home' whilst she awaits
her new owners. Exclusions
